When You Believe
I just realized that I haven’t been posting any music on my blog for a very long time – not good. Here’s a song I heard on the radio while driving home yesterday. It’s a song that has been an inspiration to me ever since the first day I heard it.
It has a beautiful message.
A Touch of Eternity
The days are getting shorter again. The evenings are getting darker. Late at night, just before bedtime, I spend a few minutes outside on the porch. The view of the city lights can be seen in the distance. But right above my head there are only stars. Thousands of stars. Millions.
And a thought comes to mind; that the darkness on a clear night like this has its own special beauty, because it brings out the stars once again.
I remember reading a quote somewhere:
The stars are the street lights of eternity.
Perhaps that’s why looking up into the starlit sky brings this very special feeling of hope.. of faith.. something magical. A sense of being lost in the vast universe, yet at the same time knowing I am exactly where I wish to be. Where I am meant to be.
Someday soon I’ll teach myself how to capture those stars on camera.
Be happy.

I Have a Dream
Found a handful of nostalgic Youtube clips that I’d like to share, and here’s the first one. As a young girl I was quite fond of Abba’s music, and this song was one of my absolute favorites back then. I remember being touched by its lyrics, and I still am. These words really say it all; if we keep the ability to see the wonders in life, then we can take most any challenge that may come our way.
The Prayer
I promise, this is the last one. But I just had to include it, – I find it amazingly beautiful, the kind of song that sticks to my mind and won’t go away.. And maybe that is just what we should keep in mind, with Christmas being only two days away: A prayer.
I mean, regardless of what our approach towards life may be, – how can that be wrong?
My apologies for the poor quality. Obviously, the sound was a lot better than this. I’m afraid you will just have to use your imagination a little
An Early Christmas Gift
My parents gave me an early Christmas present this year; a ticket to Peter Jöback’s Christmas concert in Oslo. I was very happy to receive it, and the concert was good. However, though there were many great Christmas songs, this is the one that touched me the most. It’s Gethsemane from the Jesus Christ Superstar musical.
We tend to forget, don’t we, what Christmas is really all about. The birth of Christ, yes – but as magic and wonderful as the nativity story is, it’s just the beginning. The story of his birth, his life – and death – must be seen as a whole. A thought that naturally leads us to this song, even though not traditionally associated with Christmas.
I’ve heard the songs from this musical before. Still, being there – hearing it live – that was powerful. And I admit; by the end of the song, my eyes were certainly not dry.
Strange isn’t it, how music can hurt – and still make you feel good.
Spiritually Miraculous
“The scientifically impossible I do right away
The spiritually miraculous takes a bit longer..”
Being confident is good. Seeing life through the colors of optimism also. However, I think we can all agree that the above quote may be just a little too optimistic..!!!
Although it is obviously meant to be taken humorously; I still think it’s a great quote. Because it says something about the importance of believing in yourself. We may not be able to accomplish anything we set out to do in life, at least not by our own force alone. But what is undoubtedly true is this; if we don’t believe we can make a difference, we probably never will.
When I was younger I used to have a somewhat similar (though not quite as bold) approach to life. I remember saying to my friends
There’s no such thing as “impossible” – what appears to be impossible only takes a little patience
Now being a bit older and (hopefully) wiser, I am tempted to add; sometimes a lot of patience. Even so, with a few exceptions; I still believe it. Very few things in life are actually impossible. And if we truly believe we can make a difference, and we are willing to put some effort into it, most things can be done.
However, if what we aim to accomplish is the spiritually miraculous, it’s probably a good idea to realize that we may need a little help along the way

For the Journey of Life
Heavenly Father
Please be with me on my journey
Remind me that I am not alone
I will put my faith and trust in You
Please guide me
As I wish to walk with love
Remind me that what is hidden from me
May still be there, and still be true
Fill my heart with your light
Keep my eyes focused
And my mind persistent
On this journey of life
Opportunities and Miracles
Holding on to yesterday’s thought just a bit longer; a blogger friend wrote an excellent post some time back, reflecting on the opportunities given to us in life, and how we sometimes tend to complain about what we do not have instead of making an effort to change it.

May You Be Blessed
Counting our blessings in life, we normally concentrate on all the good things given to us. But sometimes we just have to take a walk on a longer path, to discover that things like discomfort, anger, tears and foolishness may be just what is needed for us to enrich our lives.
May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers and half truths, so that you will live deep within your heart.
May God bless you with anger at injustice and exploitation so that you will fight for justice, equality and peace.
May God bless you with tears for those who suffer, so that you will reach out your hand to comfort them.
And may God bless you with the foolishness to think that you can make a difference, so that you will do the things which others tell you cannot be done.
