When You Believe
I just realized that I haven’t been posting any music on my blog for a very long time – not good. Here’s a song I heard on the radio while driving home yesterday. It’s a song that has been an inspiration to me ever since the first day I heard it.
It has a beautiful message.
I Have a Dream
Found a handful of nostalgic Youtube clips that I’d like to share, and here’s the first one. As a young girl I was quite fond of Abba’s music, and this song was one of my absolute favorites back then. I remember being touched by its lyrics, and I still am. These words really say it all; if we keep the ability to see the wonders in life, then we can take most any challenge that may come our way.
Someday Soon
I know I’ve been posting quite a few videos lately. But I just couldn’t resist this one. I totally fell in love with her voice the first time I heard it. And I think this song truly brings out its beauty, – especially at the beginning, so soft.. Each time the song ends I have to play it again.. and again.. I’ll probably have to stay up late tonight – again..
Quotes and Videos
Approaching my first 6 months of blogging, I have decided to change the “colors” of my blog a bit, also adding a few more pages.
Over the months I have posted quite a few quotes (and more will follow) and I thought it would be a good idea to gather them on a page.
You can get there by clicking on the tab above or here Quotes
Also I have posted some videos; some of my favorite music and a few funny/cute/nostalgic ones.
Click the tab above or follow this link that will take you to the Video page.
The Popcorn Girl
My dear grandmother who is now 83, loves to tell this story from I was a two year old. As for myself, I don’t remember much of it. But apparently she took me to the local record store that day, and as I was sitting on the counter, with my legs swinging in the air and the headphones on, they put on the hottest record of that year; “Popcorn” with Hot Butter. Moving my body to the music, I shouted to her: “Common Granny, dance!!!” Of course she couldn’t hear a thing.
That was my first real encounter with music, and the record became my favorite for a long time. Sadly I don’t have it anymore. When I listen to the melody now it seems, well.. almost a bit annoying. But I can see why I liked it as a child; it’s a quick, funny and happy tune. And it’s a nice memory. To be honest I never was much for popcorn though… I must admit I’m more a chocolate kind of girl
My kids had a good laugh at this version below:
Stockholm Tonight
I just discovered this song “Stockholm i natt” by the Swedish singer Peter Jöback. The lyrics tells about how the ordinary and even unattractive becomes beautiful when your heart is filled with joy and happiness. Honest and heartfelt. If you can’t understand the lyrics, do enjoy the wonderful melody!
Painting on Silence
.A painter paints his pictures on canvas. Musicians paint their pictures on silence. ~Leopold Stokowski
A while ago I heard someone say that because music has no physical form or substance, it can never be considered as valuable as the work of a painter or sculpturing artist. From my point of view, this is as far from the truth as possible.
To me music is one of the greatest blessings in life. Nothing is capable of touching our hearts like music; bringing joy and inspiration to the soul, lifting us up or even bringing us down at times, but still – isn’t music the very accompaniment to life? What can possibly be greater than that?
I personally believe music has the ability to make the world a better place. It is also said; what cannot be put into words, can be expressed through music. I can only summarize like this: I’m so thankful for the wonderful language of music, bringing a whole new dimension into life.
You’ll Be in My Heart
I love Phil Collins’ voice, there’s just no one quite like him.
This song is one of my favorites; take some time and listen to it’s beautiful lyrics.
“I know we’re different but, deep inside us; we’re not that different at all”
Rediscovering Forrest Gump
I watched the Forrest Gump movie when it was released in 1994. But now, watching it again 14 years later, it’s clear to me that I completely missed it. I just didn’t realize back then – this is not only a touching love story. This story tells about so many aspects of life. Like having a warm heart, being a trustworthy person, taking on a challenge, dealing with disappointment, believing in love – even if it doesn’t turn out the way we imagine. And in the end it makes you wonder; what is being smart all about anyway – really?
I am so glad to have rediscovered this amazing movie. If you haven’t watched it yet, you must do so as soon as you can. If you did watch it a while ago like me, you might just want to watch it all over again. Don’t miss out. As for now you can just sit back and let yourself float away with the Forrest Gump “feather theme” – all of this music is beautiful, but I have completely fallen in love with the first part. Perhaps the most beautiful melody I have ever known.
Welcome to My Voice
Hi everyone and welcome to my weblog! Today I decided it was time to finally turn my idea into reality. I have been reading other blogs for a couple of months now and the thought of starting my own has become more and more persistent. So here it is!
What will my blog be about then? Life – I suppose; in it’s many aspects. I sometimes tend to be a bit philosophic, I must admit. Also you will most probably get to read about my family, our everyday life, photography and music. Basically the things I love about life, and whatever comes to mind.
But let me take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Linda, I was born in the southeast of Norway on September 22nd 1970, so that makes me 37 years young. I am the mother of 3 great guys (who really know how to keep me on my feet all week!)
I enjoy the silence of nature and all kinds of outdoor activities with my family.
As long as I can remember I have been writing; stories, bit of poetry, music.. I welcome every opportunity to practice and improve my English, though it hasn’t been much of that lately – so please bear with me as I will stumble into a few mistakes here and there. I’ll try my best to explain what I’m thinking. Hope you’ll enjoy my blog!
Thanks for stopping by and welcome back
